Description: Acorn Infrastructure Service Ltd. received LOI form Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) on 06th July 2010 to establish 100 MW HFO power plant in Juldha, Chattogram to supply electricity to national gird to contribute in meeting the power demand of the country. This power plant has been built with state-of-the-art technology using German made Caterpillar 16CM43 model reciprocating engine, which is the most fuel-efficient engine installed and commissioned in Bangladesh & consumes only a gram of HFO to generate one Kilowatt of electric power that is less than the permitted value with BPDB. Our power plant uses the best quality materials and services that has earned the name as one of the best installed HFO based power plants in Bangladesh. Since the announcement of commercial operation dated on 26th March 2012, ACORN plant is the most utilized HFO based power plant in Bangladesh and has effectively reduced generation cost and tariff charged to government. With such performance and good reputation with BPDB, ACORN has increased its capacity from 100 MW to 300 MW through the expansion of plants in Juldha, Chattogram in recent period.


Location: Juldha Power Plant is located in Dhangarchar, just across of Chattogram port in Chattogram district. It is about 5 km from Agrabad Commercial Area and about 10 km from Chattogram International Airport. Chattogram is the port capital and second largest city of Bangladesh. Being the electricity producer of Chattogram division, It is in the Chattogram district, which is in the southeastern part of the country near Myanmar (Burma). The city was built on the banks of the Karnaphuli River connecting with the Bay of Bengal.
The largest seaport of the country, Chattogram is the main route for almost all of Bangladesh’s import and export, and generates a huge amount of revenue each year, attracting many global investors. Its’ port and its facilities are extensively developed and particularly suitable for ocean freights. The city is Bangladesh’s commercial and manufacturing hub and home to country’s mega industries. It is also notable that a large eco-park is situated in the territory placed in Sitakundu, which is catering the interests of ecologists and individuals and communities working in forestry-related genetic science.


Plant Description: We have 3 independent plant units for Jhulda, each plant bears the capacity of 100 MW. Each 100 MW unit including this plant consists of 08 German made Caterpillar 16CM43 model reciprocating engine of 13.2 and 13.5 MW each. Our 100 MW 11 KV generating voltage is stepped up to 132 KV voltage through substation at generating end including 2 numbers of 65/75 MVA, 11/132 KV stepped up transformer. Transmission line with double circuit line where one holds capacity of 200 MW & another line with 100 MW has been laid to interconnect with Juldha grid substation to supply electricity to the national grid. Total storage capacity of fuel is 23,800 MT with independent jetty to facilitate bunkering.


Facility Layout: Juldha plant commissioned on a very optimized layout of 28 Acres land, supplemented with water treatment plant, two own maintenance buildings, cooling towers, substations, fuel storage tanks, employee dormitory, bunkering facility, independent jetty, & waste management system.
